The English faculty of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya plays a crucial role in fostering language skills, communication abilities, critical thinking, and a love for literature among students. The aim of the English faculty is multi faceted, encompassing both academic and personal development goals.
 
Here are some best practices adopted by the English faculty that contribute significantly to the holistic development of students, preparing them for academic success and lifelong learning –
NIE Activities  - Our school subscribes to Hindustan Times & The Times of India Student editions with the aim to build language skills and vocabulary for classes V to XII.
Language Week - To foster literary and creative skills of learners a week long planned activities around a selected theme are conducted every year in May. 
Reading Week -  A week-long activities are planned in the month of June for classes III to XII. 
CBSE Reading Mission - Our school has been conducting story sessions for classes I to VIII. 
CBSE Reading Challenge - Our school has been taking up CBSE Reading Challenges for Classes III to VIII to foster reading habits among the students. 
Munshi Memorial Recitation Competition – Munshi Memorial Recitation Competition is an annual feature at Mehta Vidyalaya and is a perfect tribute to our revered Founder Father, Kulapati K.M.Munshi. This prestigious Inter-school mega competition is a celebration of the finest literary & cultural legacy of Indian poets.
English Olympiad- English Olympiads have been conducted for classes III to XII by SOF and Silver Zone. 
CBSE Expression Series -  English faculty has been preparing students for CBSE Expression Series. 
Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition -  Every year a large number of students from our school take part in the Commonwealth Essay writing competition. 
Bhavidya Newsletter & Magazine - English faculty is diligently working around the year to bring out the annual Bhavidya magazine & bi-annual Bhavidya newsletter. 
DOE Competitions - Our students are trained and rigorously participate in various literary DOE competitions such as Poem recitation, Essay writing, Declamation, Elocution, Debate etc. 
 
A new initiative taken up by the English faculty this academic session is the Pen Literacy Program. 
Pen English Literacy Program – Our school launched a pilot project - Pen English Literacy Program for learners from Classes V-IX & XI under the inspiration, guidance and motivation of Dr. (Mrs.) Anju Tandon, School Principal. It aims to get students English proficiency (C1 on the Common European Framework) by strengthening their foundational reading and writing skills, which is also recommended by NEP-2020.  Launched on 6 June 2023 for the Mehta Vidyalaya students the program will run for a period of 18 months and on successful completion of the course all students receive a downloadable certificate.
