Our Founder Father “Dr. K. M. Munshi”

 

Born on December 30, 1887, Dr. Kanhaiyalal Maneklal Munshi was “versatile personality”, “a philosopher in action” ,“a man of great ideas and great courage” and “multi-faceted genius”. The versatility of Munshiji is seen in his role as lawyer, creative writer, constitution maker, freedom fighter, administrator, organization builder and a champion of Indian culture. This year we celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. K. M. Munshi, the founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and also enter the 75th year of this great institution, that was founded on7th November, 1938 with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Munshi looked upon Bhavan as an ‘Adventure in Faith’, faith in India’s past, present & future. It is also a faith in the Indians who have a rich unbroken cultural heritage. Munshiji built the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan with the devotion of one engrossed in raising a temple. The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is a Somnath of Learning. Of this Somnath ,Kulapati Munshi was sthapathi (sculptor architect) The Bhavan is ceaselessly striving to carry forward India’s ageless message of faith, self discipline and dedication; Shraddha, Samyamaand Samarpana.Its ideal is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, The world is one family.Its motto is “Aa no bhadraah kratvo yantuvishwataha”.
